Power Of Attorney
If you wish to appoint a person(s) or a representative to pursue matters on your behalf in Ethiopia, you will require a Power of Attorney. Before submitting your documents to the Embassy, please ensure that you understand the contents of the document.
Submission of documents takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. Appointments can be made by contacting us on +1 (343) 961 7212 .
Requirements
Documents required are dependent on the type of service you require:
For Ethiopian Citizens and Ethiopian-Origin ID card holders
- Power of Attorney
- Your Ethiopian passport or Ethiopian-origin ID card
- For Ethiopian passport holders, evidence of your status in the United Kingdom
- Two colour passport-sized photographs
- The application fee
- Any supporting documents applicable to your situation
For British and overseas passport holders
- Power of Attorney
- Two colour passport-sized photographs
- The application fee
- Any supporting documents applicable to your situation
Fees and Payment
The correct fee must be submitted with your documents.
Ethiopian Passport and I.D. card holders:
- Personal Matters – £49.00
- Business Matters – £52.00
British/Other Passports:
- Personal Matters – £75.00
- Business Matters – £80.00
The Consular Section only accepts credit and debit card payments for all Consular Services. Payments by American Express, cash, postal orders or banker’s draft are no longer accepted.

Processing times and return of documents
Documents are usually processed within three working days. Some, however, may take longer.
At the time you submit your documents, you will be notified when to return to collect them.
